Lingo Gapfy

Turn YouTube subtitles into gap-fill listening practice.

Lingo Gapfy is a Chrome extension for YouTube videos with subtitles. It hides a few words and asks you to fill them in, so you spend less time leaning on subtitles and more time listening for what was actually said.

  • Works on YouTube videos with subtitles
  • Free to use
  • No ads inside the extension

Why it feels easy

  • Start with the YouTube videos you already watch instead of moving into a separate study platform.
  • There is no heavy setup or bloated study workflow to learn before you can begin.
  • It stays focused on one simple thing: helping you listen more closely without turning practice into a whole system.

How it works

  1. 1

Play a YouTube video with subtitles.

  2. 2

Click the Lingo Gapfy icon in your toolbar.

  3. 3

Click "Start Exercise" and fill in the blanks.

What you get

Fill in the missing words

Instead of just reading subtitles, you type the words you heard as the video plays.

Replay hard phrases

If you miss something, replay the phrase and try again before moving on.

Keep the video moving

Finish a prompt and the video picks up again, so practice still feels like watching, not homework.

Simple controls when you need them

Start or stop the exercise from the popup and keep a few useful settings close by.

Does it work outside YouTube?
No. Lingo Gapfy is built specifically for YouTube watch pages and runs directly inside the player.
Is it free to use?
Yes. You can use Lingo Gapfy for free. The extension itself does not add ads or extra popups, though YouTube may still show its own ads.
